THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
The development of mouthguards is technically challenging in terms of multi-shot injection moulding and the need for accurate dental morphology. 3di have been working with OPRO for over 9 years in the development of their world leading range of orthodontic sports and protective equipment. Working closely with their development team, we have created and developed complex forms whilst still optimising support and protection.
THE DESIGN SOLUTION
Ongoing 3D CAD design and support work with OPRO’s toolmakers and moulders to ensure smooth running and technically achievable solutions. Offering a range of gum shields to suit all budgets, OPRO have provided adults and children the oral protection for all levels of contact sport. Further projects we have collaborated with OPRO are, the technical development of international packaging which includes the CAD data for each vacuum forming, the production of samples tooling and sets of sample packs. Assistance into the sourcing of suitable packaging suppliers and equipment was undertaken by 3di Consulting.
In 2019, OPRO were awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise for innovation, an outstanding achievement for business.
