Rapid Prototyping
“Tangible Evaluation”
Using the CAD files we have created, we can output to a variety of rapid prototype techniques. Some prototypes are required to be 100% accurate full size representations of the final design, in the correct material for safety testing, isolated performance testing and to ensure your product is ready for manufacture. We have many quality assured suppliers we trust and have unrivalled experience who can assist in creating such prototypes.
The majority of the prototypes we create only require to be small accurate form and function representation models, these can be created using our in-house 3D colour printer and or by using hand made techniques. Models can be finished to replicate certain material finishes and can be a cost effective solution to having a tangible product to evaluate, before the green light is given for tooling.
3D printing uses standard inkjet printing technology to create parts layer by layer by depositing a liquid binder onto thin layers of powder. After each pass from the print head a new layer of powder is distributed. This process continues until all of the part’s cross sections have been printed. The bed is then de-powdered and the model removed for infiltration, hardening and finishing. Most prototype models are left ‘organic’ (hardened but not sprayed) but in certain circumstances prototype models can be professionally sprayed and hand finished replicating the look and feel of plastic parts.
